A city centre shopping centre redevelopment project in San Francisco, USA
Originally opened in 1998, a major redevelopment and extension by Westfield (now Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield) in partnership with Forest City added a Bloomingdale's department store, cinema, food & beverage and host of fashion brands to reposition San Francisco Center into one of the West Coast's leading retail destinations.
Located on Market Street in the heart of San Francisco's downtown retail district, the redeveloped centre retained the original building facade behind which 150 units over nine floors were created.
Working within a development partnership gave Westfield the opportunity to create a project specific retail delivery solution that met the financial and stakeholder involvement requirements of the project.
With the tenant coordination team sourced locally and based on site, there was a need to integrate a Bay Area based design review capability into the dedicated project team.
Vindico provided a retail delivery content and design solution for San Francisco Center.
Working closely with the Client, we re-crafted the standard tenant design criteria to work within an innovative design review solution, whereby Vindico's document management and collaboration tool was used to feed tenant submittals to a group of designers and technicians across the country. This early "crowdsourcing" model shortened turnaround times on a 'per unit' pricing model that was the forerunner to the produstise design review solution we offer today.
Vindico brought a new take on design review into a team that opened 100+ tenants on time and within budget.
